Hey, Dyo.

Let’s harken back to a wonderous time. We use to have this site. And we used to post on that site.

What ever happened to those times? Do you even remember them anymore?

I don’t think so.

So, it’s finally summertime! School’s out (except for you unlucky summer-schoolers) and it’s time for fun in the sun. …Except for us.

Some changes are afoot around here at dyo, and we’d like to get you informed of them! The first of these changes may be a bit of a doozy for some of you, and I know there’ll be at least one or two of you who’ll be all angry and such. Next month, our channel will be moving to a different IRC network.

We talked about this for a while, and, due to certain events and actions of certain people, we eventually reached the decision to move - it wasn’t simply a decision made with no forethought or no reason. Starting July 2nd, the official home of #dyo will be on the synIRC IRC network. Those of you who decide not to come, we’d just like to let you know we’ll miss you, and hopefully you’ll find better times elsewhere. For those of you who decide to come, we’ll be waiting with open arms. Party!

Another change coming soon is that we might actually get some regular posting on the blog! It’s been sitting here for months without doing much other than collecting dust, but things are happening. Hopefully I’ll have some more news for you on that topic soon.

Ha! So, recently, my hard drive crapped out. I’m going to be ordering a new drive soon, as well as Leopard. However… that’s not what this post is about!

You’re probably wondering, “well, it says downtime, so what else could you be talking about?” Well, guess what? Apparently, our hosting is getting upgraded somehow! Yay! However…

We’ll be down for about half an hour starting at some point between 12 AM to 6 AM (EST) on March 10. This will not affect IRC - only the website (including any hosted services, or any special services of Giga that rely on the website for information).

I kinda doubt any of you are going to be on the site at that time, but… just a little warning! It’s always nice to give (and receive) full disclosure, isn’t it?

So, I bet you notice that random thing up at the top. It has little messages! However, we only have a few right now, which means that the same ones show up over and over, so here’s what we’re going to do: I’m going to let you guys suggest stuff to be put in there! You can see a list of what’s already in there at this link. So, suggest stuff in the comments! Be sure to keep it short (if you’ve seen the “pokemans” one, you’ll know what NOT to do), and make sure it’s at least somewhat funny or dyo-relevant! Good luck!

The restructuring changes have been made. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation!

We recently decided to restructure the #dyo access list. On Wednesday, February 6, the access list will be replaced by the following list:

SOP: Katori, Terusama, Erik_Destler
AOP: antgeth, Final, Miria, Satoshi-kun, Zeeky
HOP: Asci, Ceceil, darkgamerGS, FullMasta, Mike, Muhed

In addition, from this point forward, we will stop giving autovoice (VOP) to all users. In addition to the users that were removed to the AOP and HOP lists, the following users will get VOP:

VOP: All users removed from AOP and HOP, Ice_Rabbit, J, MisterCow, square-kun, Xboxster, Entei, PPN, fr3quency, Aeris, Babz, CaptKirby, n2, Refia, nagrom
